Hi, bonjour, ciao, y hola! Whether I gave you this website or you are just stumbling upon it for the first time, let me be the first to say welcome! My name is Hannah Abel-you can call me HAbel, and I am a rising senior at the University of Miami majoring in Human & Social Development with minors in Education and Psychology. In addition to being involved within the Homecoming Executive Committee and Panhellenic Executive Board at my school, I love to run (I have done 2 half marathons and am planning for my third!) and bake recipes that I find on Pinterest. But, what I love to do most is travel. Which is why I started this blog.
Two years ago I started My State of Sunshine, a blog that narrated my college experiences through my freshman and sophomore years. While I decided to end it at the end of my sophomore year, I have always loved to write and wanted to find another creative outlet for doing so...hahaha as we college students would say #FAIL. Fast forward a few months and I found this amazing study abroad program. I mean, we're talking incredible. I knew that I wanted to study abroad when I came to college; I just had to. But, because of my involvements on campus I knew it would have to be in the summer. No biggie, though, actually it is to my advantage as I see it. Not only do I not have to give up a semester on campus, but I get to spend my summer studying in another country and meet new people along the way. Essentially, it is the best of both worlds.
Back to the point, okay. So I found this amazing program. Seven weeks, three countries. We're talking the big leagues here: Paris, France; Rome, Italy; and Madrid, Spain. That got my attention at first when I saw it on the program website. Then I read a little further. Two classes (six credits-which means a lot as a rising senior might I add) in these three incredible European cities: Cities as Living Museums and Management of Cultural Affairs. So yes, I would be studying art in three of the most beautiful places on earth-who would pass up that opportunity? Read a little further only to find out that more than half of class time is at the museums and monuments? Okay, I'm in.
So long story short, I am spending seven weeks abroad this summer and am using this blog as a creative outlet to share my travel experiences. Who knows, maybe I'll do something adventurous or try a "scary" new food? It's Europe, so anything is possible. I am also blogging for the school that I am attending, so you can follow that too if you want. But this is everything. I can't wait to share my stories and pictures with you (shameless plug-here's my insta). After all, adventure is out there!
